Block unwanted emails

You can create a custom word list to block emails containing certain words.

To create a custom word list:

1. Sign on to AOL and go to Spam Controls. On the right-hand side, under the Control What Is In The Email I Get heading, click Custom Word List, near the bottom.

2. On the custom word list input form, choose from the following settings:

  • Add: Type a word and click this button to add it to the custom word list.
  • Remove: Click this button to remove a selected word in the custom word list.
  • Notes: Each AOL screen name uses its own separate spam filter.

3. You can use wildcards in the custom word list. Type an asterisk (*) next to a word to allow partial matches to be moved to the spam folder. For example, type '*berry' and the custom word list will move emails with words such as 'strawberry' and 'cranberry' to the spam folder.
